Our HR and Recruitment Advisor will report to the Head of HR and be a key member of a small team that champions high employee engagement. The role is excitingly varied, focusing on supporting Handsfree growth through attracting, developing and engaging talent whilst creating HR efficiency through automation.

You’ll be highly organised, have strong administrative and communication skills, with a focus on supporting the achievement of departmental KPIs, whilst supporting our Handsfree colleagues in meeting business goals.

Manchester, Trafford Park

HR and Recruitment Advisor Job Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships and regularly communicate with the management team on HR related issues and escalate when appropriate
  • Contribute to the implementation on a new HRIS system and become our HRIS champion
  • Update and maintain the HR Information System data ensuring accuracy of new starters / leavers, T&A and changes in employees’ details during employment
  • Compile through HRIS data monthly management reports; and explore areas of ongoing improvement
  • Drive business performance in partnership with the management team and aligned to the organisation’s objectives
  • Partner with line managers to review employee relations, resourcing, performance and absence management and attend employee relation meetings with managers when required and appropriate
  • Liaise with third parties when required including Occupational Health, Benefits providers, agencies etc
  • Handle HR matters reliably and in accordance with legal requirements
  • Carry out formal consultations when required, welfare meetings etc
  • Administer the new starter process and ensure all processes are adhered to including right to work in the UK, references and DBS
  • Ensure ISO compliance
  • Make recommendations to drive positive change throughout the business
  • Participate in all HR related projects
  • Manage investigations / hearings and complex employee relations issues, disciplinary and grievance
  • Delivering onboarding
  • Develop HR procedures and policies (within the existing policy framework) to reflect business aim and focus
  • Write new and update existing HR policies (within the existing policy framework) on an annual review, or as and when legislation changes and provide advice to the Leadership Team on the management of policies
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of HR policies and offer advice and guidance on maternity / paternity leave
  • Support Marketing team with internal communications
  • Establish and manage an Employee Forum as a way for employees to provide direct feedback, share best practice and great ideas and for the Leadership Team to engage directly with staff
  • Developing Handsfree’s wellbeing, health and counselling initiatives and practical implementation
  • Manage Handsfree’s benefits and continuously source other affordable staff benefit schemes for consideration by the Leadership Team
  • Research and suggest ideas for engagement with the local community, corporate social responsibility programmes and charitable fundraising initiatives with staff
  • Researching and recommend to the Leadership Team ideas for staff social events and responsible for the delivery of an agreed social calendar
  • Establishing and managing the end to end recruitment process, in adherence with our Values and business requirements incl. initial sign off, attraction, selection, screening and onboarding 
  • Ensure job descriptions are relevant, updated and agreed 
  • Ensure all candidates are recruited based on appropriate and relevant competence and skill
  • Working with the Leadership Team to understand role briefs and establish the best route to market
  • Maintains accurate and up to date Responsibilities Map for the business
  • Maintains accurate, up to date and signed copies of Statements of Responsibilities for Senior Managers
  • Responsible for all induction training for new staff and refresher training for existing staff
  • Champions process improvement for the department and knowledge share, ensuring correct procedures are followed and standards met
  • Ensures all department processes are mapped and executed appropriately
  • Supports the business in ensuring full regulatory compliance, meeting legal requirements, identifying any potential risk issues and maintaining internal compliance
  • Supports the agile nature of Handsfree and the wider business, with additional duties as and when necessary

HR and Recruitment Advisor Job Requirements

  • CIPD Level 5
  • Proven experience using PeopleHR
  • Ability to motivate and communicate with others at all levels
  • Ability to develop stakeholder and third-party relationships and building strong levels of engagement
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • High standard of literacy and communication skills, both written and verbal including the ability to deliver engaging presentations
  • Able to adapt and succeed in a changing environment
  • Evidence of well-developed leadership and negotiation skills
  • Able to deliver on and live our Values
  • Able to work collaboratively with all colleagues and departments to achieve commercial success
  • Ability to keep team focused and motivated to achieve individual and wider business objectives

HR and Recruitment Advisor Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary – £22,000 p.a.
  • Hours – 8.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. (Mon – Fri)
  • Holidays – a very generous 30 days (incl. Bank Holidays) to start, increasing annually to 35 days
