Handsfree becomes first installer to get the ‘digital tick’
Earlier this month Handsfree, in partnership with Just Connect and Digital Radio UK, ran a conference to showcase the latest developments in digital radio.
The successful event was held at Media City in Manchester, and attended by a range of luminaries from the world of broadcasting and digital technology.
Delegates listened to presentations on how the public is being prepared for the switchover to full digital radio broadcasting. Many people are not aware of the switchover, so a big publicity drive, fronted by television presenter Suzi Peri, will be rolled out in the spring.
The switchover has major implications for UK drivers. Radio reception and listening quality will be drastically improved, so long as users have the right kit installed in their vehicle.
One highlight of the event was a demonstration of the simple but effective digital radio installation that transforms the listening experience. Our MD, Matt Johnson, spoke of how easy and relatively cost-effective such installs are.
Indeed, Handsfree is now at the forefront of the digital radio revolution. The government has established accreditation for installers of DAB systems, and Handsfree were proud to be awarded the first ever ‘digital tick mark’ of approval.
The tick mark, used in a similar way during the television digital switchover, gives customers peace of mind they are receiving a quality install from a reputable company.
Soon, over 95% of the UK will have digital radio coverage, so the old days of FM and white noise from poor reception will be banished to history. Handsfree will play its part to ensure the British public continues to enjoy radio on the road.
