Founded in 1952, Rhys Davies Logistics is a national logistics company with nine UK depots which run in excess of 170 vehicles, ranging from vans and rigids through to a substantial fleet of articulated vehicles, with some 150 curtain-sided and double deck trailers.

The Challenge

With running such a large fleet, Rhys Davies Logistics discovered the need to reduce costs in the form of false insurance claims and to help their drivers by removing vehicle blind spots.

Their team of expert drivers have to travel between multiple locations and manoeuvre in some very challenging spaces, at busy times on a daily basis. Therefore the solution they were looking for needed to be fitted with minimum disruption to the fleet, keeping vehicle downtime to a minimum and completed before a strict deadline.

Improving Vehicle and Driver Safety and Reducing Costs

The specialist Install and Datalive team at Handsfree Group recommended the supply and installation of a Datalive multi-camera system.

This solution offers 360 degrees recording at all times with the option of live view / email and text reports. The system also integrates a track/trace/geofencing solution through the same software. This helps the efficiency of accident reports as there is no requirement to manually remove the memory or go out to the vehicle to obtain footage.

The proposed solution was perfect for Rhys Davies Logistics so the Handsfree Group’s dedicated Projects Team intialised the installation roll out.  All the vehicles in the fleet now have the Datalive multi-camera system, professionally installed by FITAS accredited engineers and the nationwide coverage allowed for the roll-out to be completed within the deadline and with minimum vehicle downtime.
