I remember the Queen visiting my hometown, Warrington, in November 1979.
I was 7, and my two sisters were 5 and 2. My mum spend the morning styling our hair and dressing us in our Sunday best. We then walked a few miles to the road where my mum insisted, “we will see the Queen”. Despite the cold wet November weather, and our dress code falling far short of ‘wintery’, my two sisters and I waited eagerly for the Queen. We were so excited when her motor parade approached. Standing 2ft 3 to 3ft 1, we didn’t even see the Queen’s hat. However, the good old British atmosphere on the day is something I’ll always remember.
