From October 2020, it will be a requirement for all HGV’s over 12 tonnes entering Greater London to have a DVS permit. DVS will measure the vision drivers have of other road users including pedestrians and cyclist directly from there cab. The initiative from Transport for London (TFL) aim is to achieve zero serious accidents/fatalities on London’s roads by 2041. HGV’s will be given a safety rating with a minimum of one star being required to obtain the safety standards permit. This will rise to 3 stars in 2024.
