After visits to Norway and Sweden, Handsfree continues its move into the Scandinavian market, with the recent deployment of our team to Pori in Finland. Telematics and Job Management company Microlise were in need of a professional installation team with a wealth of telematics expertise. Importantly, they needed engineers who wouldn’t be deterred by extreme climate changes and minimal hours of daylight.
The objective was two fold. From an environmental stance, there was a need to reduce CO2 emissions and increase fuel efficiency in a drive to overhaul the operational fleet. Secondly, the company wanted to improve fleet utilisation and reduce costs, as well as improve operating safety and fleet driver awareness – a factor frequently under the microscope.
Installs consisted of a telematics unit that required a CANBus connection in the vehicle and fitment of the Microlise MDT cradles for the drivers PDA terminals. Our work in Finland involved a variety of vehicles – ranging from Volvos and Scanias to Mercedes and MANs.
Tough working conditions
The drastic change of climate and tough working environment did not hinder the progress of our engineers. In fact, despite the team working in subzero temperatures, all installations were completed ahead of schedule.
Handsfree worked tirelessly to complete the project to the highest of standards on a very tight time schedule. The finished product brought the Scandinavians into line with a centralised UK telematics operating system, and enabled them to generate a uniform telematics structure.
Handsfree have shown great resolve in differing climates, covering the majority of Scandinavia. Their professionalism and dogged determination under sometimes harsh conditions has been apparent throughout, with completion of work well within schedule and to a very high standard.
