Tom Johnson was born on 12th July 1914 and worked at the Spitfire Factory / Fort Dunlop, Castle Bromwich during the war, on the airplane tyres
He was originally from Liverpool and came to Birmingham in 1939 and got married to Alice, Matt’s Grandma.
Tom’s mother passed away from TB in 1918, shortly followed by his father, Matt’s Great Grandfather. His Great Grandfather was in the Lancashire Fusiliers, on the front line, during WW1 and was injured in battle. He died as a result of those injuries in 1918, making Tom an orphan from the age of 4.
