My strongest memory of the Queen is one I’ll never forget. The 1977 Silver Jubilee.
For some reason I remember it being a big deal back then! We were all given the special minted Silver Jubilee Coins in a pouch (I’m sure they must be worth something by now). The big thing was the street party. I was seven years old, and jelly and ice cream were big on the agenda, as was the party games. There were 3-legged races, egg and spoon, and then one for the adults… a running backwards race. Suffice to say my mum took part in this, fell over, and broke her arm. An ambulance was called as everyone was too drunk to drive, and she spent the whole day and night in A&E.
